A Traditional Wedding In Northern Nigeria

A Traditional Wedding,Northern Nigeria Style!

What you are looking at,is the wedding trousseau.
Weddings in Northern Nigeria, are very simple affairs.
They are not as elaborate as what obtains in the
rest of the  country. This does not mean that rich folks
there do not throw elaborate weddings, they do.

The enamelware on their heads are the bride's,
and would form part of the decorations in her new home.
They would be reserved,to be used for only special
guests,and on special occasions.

Another item which forms part of the trousseau,is a
four poster iron bed. In this case, probably due to
lack of transport to carry it,a simple mat symbolizes
the missing item.

Wedding Decorations and Event Venues

A table arrangement.

The Shehu Yar'Adua Centre is a wonderful venue foe events in
Abuja

I love photographing weddings. I love every aspect of the ceremony. In Africa, weddings are a big deal. They usually involve all the members of the family, and almost always are a two-day event, and they also cost a fortune to hold.
I love to see the various
emotions on display before, during, and after the wedding!

This is Holy Trinity Catholic Church Maitama,Abuja,it is one of
my favourite wedding venues. The ambiance is fantastic!
